Legalisation requirements for Ethiopia
Document for use in Ethiopia first needs to be legalised by way of FCDO Apostille and then submitted to the Consulate of Ethiopia for further attestation.

The consular processing time is likely to be 2-3 weeks.
IMPORTANT NOTES
The Ethiopian Consulate introduced a new digital MoFA service for legalisation of documents via their own app, a simplified system where the document holder can submit the application online using their phone or tablet. Agents can still assist with the application for commercial documents only. A letter of authorisation printed on company letterhead and signed by the company director is required along with the director’s passport copy.
Ethiopian documents must first be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ethiopia.
Documents that have not been issued in the UK or Ethiopia must be authenticated by the governing body of the country where the documents were issued and further Apostilled by the FCDO in the UK before being submitted to the Consulate.
Submission of documents and release of legalised documents are now all digital through their new app available for download on apple store or google play.
